I'm Miss Megan! I am the owner and artistic director of Children's Creative Dance Theater. I'm a wife and mother of four darling little boys who keep me on my toes. I have a BS in Psychology, with an emphasis in child development, and a minor in modern dance from Brigham Young University and have been teaching children for the last 10 years.
I love teaching creative dance! As a child, I began my dance training in creative dance and loved every minute of it. I was re-introduced to creative dance as I pursued my degree and fell in love once again with the principles taught. It has been a dream come true to bring the magic of creative dance to Davis County.
I started CCDT 8 years ago as a safe space for students to learn how to move their bodies and fall in love with the art of dance. I can't wait to meet you!
If you wanted to sum me up quickly, you could just say that I love people, learning, dance, and cream cheese. I have two adorable kids and a pretty cute husband. They (and basically everyone I interact with longer than 4 seconds) are all very aware of my excitement for dance and my belief that creative movement can be the best form of communication, catharsis, fun, and exercise.
Beginning with strict ballet training, my love of dance has expanded to almost every dance genre you could imagine. I've spent years teaching, participating in high school and college companies, studying Dance and Movement Therapy, traveling to Italy to perform, dancing with several contemporary companies here in Utah, choreographing for local studios and companies, and performing or being featured in a number of ballets. You get the idea: I really like to dance.
SO. With a degree from BYU, where I studied Developmental Psychology and Dance, 20+ years dancing, teaching, and working with kids, and a heart constantly needing to express itself through movement, I am very excited to be here with you, ready to dance!
